While our primary population is inupiaq, we serve a broad population of tribal and alaskan students. We provide workforce, vocational, and academic education to our students, as well as offer various types of pre-college programming to encourage rural alaskan students to consider college and think about their future.
2021	Covenant House Alaska	Anchorage	AK	US	$20,000	Cha serves young people from all across alaska who come to anchorage looking for opportunities they often do not find, and without a support network, have nowhere safe to go. Cha serves teens and young adults with shelter, housing, education and employment support, a primary care clinic, substance abuse and mental health counseling, help navigating community resources, and so much more. Our goal is to ensure that no young person who becomes homeless must ever be forced to sleep on the streets or make impossible choices to survive. Through our philosophy of relentless engagement, we make sure no youth must face their challenges alone. We walk alongside them, through successes or failures, with the consistency that all kids need in caring adults.
2021	Outer Coast	Sitka	AK	US	$5,000	The summer seminar is a low-barrier-of-entry opportunity for students to experience higher education without the commitment or financial investment of a four-year college. This exposure will unlock future post-secondary potential by demystifying college and helping students see higher education as a place where they can thrive. Innovative, relevant, and place-based curricula will help students see value in continuing their education where they may not have before.
2021	EXCEL Alaska Inc	Anchorage	AK	US	$10,000	Alaska excel cte camp will provide 84 rural students from across rural/remote alaska an opportunity to receive hands-on introductory training and awareness in a variety of career fields specific to alaska and beyond. Participants will have a choice to learn about careers in medical careers, law enforcement, trades and aviation.
