$10,000 Grants Boost Resident-Driven Community Planning
Community Heart & Soul Seed Grant Program
Application deadline: Applications are reviewed monthly.
Geographic scope: U.S. cities and towns with populations under 30,000, including in U.S. territories
Grant amount: $10,000
Description: Community Heart & Soul is a resident-driven process that engages the entire population of a town in identifying what they love most about their community, what future they want for it, and how to achieve it. The Community Heart & Soul Seed Grant Program provides $10,000 in funding for resident-driven groups in small cities and towns with populations under 30,000 throughout the United States to start the Community Heart & Soul program. Community Heart & Soul efforts must be planned and led by at least five residents who are directly affiliated with and reside in the community, and must have a lead organization that is a local government, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, or an informal resident-led group with a 501(c)(3) fiscal sponsor. Funding requires a $10,000 cash match.
Efforts Advancing Brain Health Supported
Lundbeck US Charitable Fund
Application deadline: None
Geographic scope: National, with some emphasis on the Chicago area
Description: The Lundbeck US Charitable Fund, a corporate giving initiative of the pharmaceutical company Lundbeck, supports organizations in the U.S. who are dedicated to advancing brain health. Support focuses on the following three areas: 1) organizations in Chicagoland, IL, that are changing lives through outreach, interventions, and support for at-risk communities, particularly in the areas of mental healthcare; 2) addressing gaps in care in the U.S., with a focus on communities that are at high risk of brain disorders, including the military and veteran community; and 3) fueling novel strategies for future progress, with a focus on innovation acceleration to redefine the next generation of care for a wide range of brain disorders.
Funds Promote Legal Services in California and Nationally
Bigglesworth Family Foundation
Application deadline: Legal Services letters of inquiry will be accepted from April 7 to May 5, 2025. Access applications are accepted on a rolling basis.
Geographic scope: National, with emphasis on California
Grant amount: Legal Services grants (primarily in CA) range from $10,000 to $30,000. Access Grants range from $1,000 to $3,500.
Description: The Bigglesworth Family Foundation provides funding in the area of legal services, striving to enhance access to underserved and underrepresented communities and break the cycle of poverty. The Foundation’s Legal Services program primarily provides support in California for legal services organizations, replicable programs, and sector supporting efforts, though national organizations may apply for grants for programs that increase access to justice, promote leadership development, or are hubs or “think tank” programs for civil legal aid. The Foundation’s Access Grants support organizations throughout the United States whose work closely aligns with the legal services funding area, with a focus on strengthening an organization’s ability to effectively deliver services to their clients by facilitating access to tools, programs, and resources.
Grants Enhance Local Cycling Projects in the U.S. and Canada
Devinci Community Grant Program
Application deadline: April 23, 2025
Geographic scope: United States and Canada
Grant amount: Up to $5,000 CAD
Description: Devinci's Community Grant Program provides funding to cycling organizations in the United States and Canada for local cycling-related projects within their communities. Examples of funded projects include trail development, efforts to attract new cyclists to the community or introduce the sport to new enthusiasts, new equipment purchase for a local club, or the creation of new facilities. Cycling clubs, nonprofit cycling organizations, trail associations, individuals leading projects in their community, as well as other related organizations active in the cycling sector are eligible to apply.

Foxwynd Foundation
Application deadline: None
Geographic scope: Primarily California, Florida, Pennsylvania, and Texas
Description: The mission of the Foxwynd Foundation is to assist communities in need by enhancing access to key pillars of human dignity and potential. Support is primarily provided in California, Florida, Pennsylvania, and Texas, with 80% of funding targeting initiatives in those geographies, though applications from outside these areas will also be considered. The Foundation focuses on the following priorities: environmental sustainability, including wind and solar energy, recycling efforts, wildlife conservation, endangered species, ecological concerns, and animal welfare; healthcare, including programs assisting domestic violence victims and abuse survivors, the protection of women's rights, and other initiatives such as food insecurity and medical equipment; and housing, including shelters, homelessness prevention, housing facilities, housing assistance to prevent eviction, and employment opportunities. The first step in the application process is to schedule an intake meeting.
Giving Program Benefits Railroad Communities in the West and Midwest
Union Pacific Community Ties Giving Program
Application deadline: May 14, 2025
Geographic scope: Communities where Union Pacific Railroad operates
Grant amount: Typically $5,000 to $30,000
Description: The Union Pacific Community Ties Giving Program provides small and medium-sized Local Grants to local organizations across Union Pacific's footprint, primarily in the western and midwestern United States. Priority is given to direct services and efforts that build the capacity of organizations focused on the following causes: 1) safety, including preventing and preparing for incidents and emergencies and helping residents get home safely at the end of each day; 2) workforce development, with a focus on helping underrepresented residents achieve family-supporting careers; 3) community vitality, including cultural and recreational experiences and opportunities for community members to live healthy, vital lives; and 4) environmental sustainability.
Programs for the LGBTQ+ Community Funded in the Northeast
The Leonard-Litz LGBTQ+ Foundation: Community Grants
Application deadline: The remaining 2025 application periods are April 15 to June 15 and October 15 to December 15.
Geographic scope: Primarily the northeast U.S.
Description: The Leonard-Litz LGBTQ+ Foundation supports organizations in the northeast United States that are improving the lives of the LGBTQ+ community through life-affirming services. The Foundation's Community Grants fund programs that address one or more of the following focus areas: health and wellness, crisis intervention, racial justice, advocacy and community engagement, and social assistance and programming.
Grants Address Social Determinants of Health in Oklahoma
BlueCross BlueShield of Oklahoma: Blue Impact Grants
Application deadline: May 1, 2025
Geographic scope: Oklahoma
Description: BlueCross BlueShield of Oklahoma’s Blue Impact Grants support nonprofit organizations working to improve the health and wellness of Oklahomans by addressing social determinants of health. Grants target the following five focus areas: economic opportunity and stability; nutrition; neighborhood and local assets, including housing; locally defined health solutions, with a focus on local health and human service needs; and optimal health outcomes in six priority areas.
