According to the latest census data, Hispanics represent one of the largest ethnic groups within America, with an indelible presence across American culture. In many Southwestern states, this influence is even more readily apparent. The Hispanic community also represents an equally large share of the economy, with a high rate of economic engagement. However, this community also faces many challenges - including relatively high rates of poverty, discrimination and lack of economic and educational opportunities.

There are many nonprofit organizations dedicated specifically to serving this diverse and widespread community. These nonprofits are only able to do their good work through the generous funding provided by Hispanic grants. These grants can be put towards a wide range of possible purposes. These could include funding to programming that targets everything from educational and job workshops, to promotion of cultural events.

These grants can come from a wide range of sources. These traditionally included federal organizations such as the U.S. Department of Education and Health Resources and Services Administration. However, there are also many private foundations that provide grants in this area, such as the Ford Foundation and the W.K. Kellogg Foundation, which have missions seeking to improve racial justice and equality.
