Our youth are the future of our nation, and our world. And yet our youth are among the most vulnerable segments of our population - vulnerable to threats to their mental health, safety and well-being. There are many nonprofits who specifically work with the most at-risk youths, empowering them to not only survive, but thrive.

These nonprofits can only do their good work with the generous support from youth grants. These grants can be used to find a wide range of essential youth-support programs. These could include after-school enrichment programs, mentorship initiatives, counseling services, job training and life-skill workshops. The idea is to both provide a safe space and support network for these at-risk youth, and also to give them the mentorship to find success in their lives.

Youth grants for nonprofits can come from a wide range of sources, including traditionally federal agencies such as the U.S. Department of Education. State and local government programs may also provide grants, as well as private foundations such as the Casey Foundation. Many community foundations and corporate social responsibility foundations also take on the role of grant-givers.

When writing a youth grant proposal, it's essential that you support your entreaty for aid with data. You need to be able to show that there is a significant gap in youth services. Data that can back this up could focus on high school dropout rates, juvenile delinquency, poverty levels and educational disparities. You want to use credible sources for this data, such as the U.S. Census Bureau, local school district reporting, and youth service agencies in your state.
