STEM education helps students prepare for careers in the incredibly valuable fields of science, technology, engineering and mathematics. However, for many students, these educational aspirations are out of reach, due to cost or lack of local facilities. There are also many students who simply do not give the STEM field enough attention due to cultural biases, or a lack of knowledge about the field as a whole.

There are many nonprofits that look to help bridge this gap, by empowering students to learn about and find success in the STEM fields. These nonprofits are only able to do this through the generous funding from STEM education grants. This grant money can go towards a wide range of programs and initiatives. This could include providing fresh curricula or lab equipment for students, or professional development for STEM education. It can also help promote a wide range of extracurricular material, such as robotics clubs, coding camps, and science fairs. 

STEM education grants come from a variety of sources. These can include federal agencies, such as the National Science Foundation and the U.S. Department of Education. There are also a wide range of private foundations that look to give support to STEM education initiatives, such as the Lemelson Foundation. It’s also not uncommon for large tech companies such as Google and Microsoft to try to boost their hiring pool through providing STEM education grants.

When preparing a STEM education grant proposal, as with any grant proposal, it's important to incorporate educational and convincing data. For STEM education grant proposals in particular, you’ll want to include data on things like STEM literacy rates, the growing demand for STEM skills in the future, and the disparity in STEM education among certain communities or groups.
